Breakfast ($3.50 x 15) + Lunch ($7.50 x 15) = $165.00!That may or may not seem like a lot at first, but if you multiply that by 12 (for the year), that's more than $2,000 per year just on breakfast and lunch. And if you multiply that by 10 years, $20,000! I know I might be stretching it a bit, but it helps me to stay focused and motivated when thinking about the potential of saving bigger numbers like that.
The only downside is, I get hungry again a couple hours later. I should definitely stock up on some healthy snacks.
I have a year challenge to prepare my breakfast and lunch at least 5 days a week and so far I am a great path. I am now including a 52wk mega savings challenge to channel those savings into an emergency fund. Doing well on both 7 weeks in:-)
ReplyDeleteNice! 52 weeks mega savings challenge is aggressive. I wish you the best of luck.
DeleteOn Tuesday I forgot to bring my lunch to work. But luckily my coworker treated me since we're having another baby ;-)
My streak is still alive!
I have the same problem too...I am trying to bring lunch from home every day but i get hungry before the day is over and I'm starving by the time i get home, which leads to stopping by at McDonald's for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI know that all it takes is planning and commitment, which i need to follow through with. Good luck!
I definitely feel you. Those days when i'm starving and eat my lunch at 11:30 AM are painful. I try to bring in healthy snacks, mainly fruit. I don't have any, I turn to tea or water.
DeleteTry keeping a stash of nutrigrain bars or fiber one bars.
